A high of 107 degrees breaks DFW record for date - Fort Worth Star Telegram

The temperature at Dallas/Fort Worth Airport reached 107 degrees on Saturday, breaking the previous record for July 21 of 105 set in 1939.

The 107 reading matched the highest temperature recorded for North Texas this summer. The temperature reached 106 on June 26, when the Dallas-Fort Worth area was in the midst of a five-day run of triple-digit high temperatures.A National Weather Service heat advisory for the area was extended to 8 p.m. Sunday.The weather service said maximum heat index values were expected to be in the 105-110 range through then.The weather service forecast calls for a low Sunday morning around 80 and a high of 101 in the afternoon.Then, things are forecast to cool down a tad, with a low Monday morning in the upper 70s and a high in the afternoon in the upper 90s.
