DALLAS â" The Dallas Police Departmentâs Gang Unit has arrested a third man in connection with that deadly police shooting this week.
Late Friday afternoon, police charged Joseph Fullwood with evading arrest.
Investigators said Fullwood was one of four men inside the house in the 5300 block of Bourquin Street in southeast Dallas on Tuesday afternoon when police were dispatched there to investigate a reported kidnapping.
When officers arrived and announced themselves at the residence, they âheard a loud crash at the back of the houseâ and then saw four men âjumping out of the rear bedroom window,â according to Fullwoodâs arrest affidavit.
One officer captured and arrested Arthur Dixon.
When a second officer caught up to James Harper, another suspect, DPD said the two got into a âviolent confrontationâ before the policeman shot and killed the 31-year-old man.
The deadly police shooting led to a large community protest in the streets around the crime scene in the hours that followed.
Less than 24 hours later, police said an anonymous tip came in to 911 identifying Fullwood as one of the four men in the house and telling investigators where to find him.
After officers arrested Fullwood, he denied being at the house when police arrived on Tuesday. But detectives questioned how he got scratches to his arm and chest, according to the affidavit.
Fullwood said he received them âa couple of days ago when he fell, because he was high on PCP.â
Fullwood has been convicted of Evading Arrest/Detention where he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 90 days in jail. In addition, DPD said, Fullwood also has seven prior convictions for felony burglary, possession of a controlled substance and unauthorized use of a motorized vehicle.
Dallas Police are still looking for the fourth man who fled that day.
