Pizza delivery driver beaten, raped in Grand Prairie, police say - Fort Worth Star Telegram

Two Dallas teens called in a pizza order to lure a delivery worker to a Grand Prairie house, then beat her in the head with a pistol and sexually assaulted her on the porch, according to Grand Prairie police reports released Wednesday.

Bleeding and wearing just a bra, the 30-year-old drove herself back to a Grand Prairie Pizza Hut, the reports stated.The 17-year-olds accused in the July 24 robbery and sexual assault were in custody Wednesday at the Lew Sterrett Justice Center in Dallas. Grand Prairie police call it one of the city's "most heinous offenses" in recent memory."The address that she went to turned out to be a vacant house," Grand Prairie Detective Lyle Gensler said. "These two are the only arrests in this case."The suspects were identified as Ferrious Cannon and Ronnie Higgs.At about 10:20 p.m. July 24, a male "claiming to be Joe" and laughing called the Pizza Hut in the 3000 block of West Camp Wisdom Road and placed a $55.75 order, police said.An employee said that the restaurant would have to call the telephone number back because it had not been used before at that location.The employee called back, and a male who sounded calm verified the number and order.When the order was ready, the delivery driver went to the 2000 block of Osage Trail in Grand Prairie.As she walked up to the home, she saw a male on the porch and another walking up to the residence, according to police reports.The second male hit her over the head with a gun, knocking her down, the reports stated.The gunman stole an undisclosed amount of money and took the woman at gunpoint to the porch, according to the reports. She was forced to perform a sex act on one of the assailants and was sexually assaulted, police said.Higgs told police that he was on the porch and fled with the pizzas after the woman was hit over the head, according to police reports.The woman was bleeding from her right forehead and had scratches on her knees, face and arms when she drove to the Pizza Hut.Once emergency crews arrived there, she was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas. Her condition was unavailable Wednesday.Grand Prairie police drove to the address where the delivery was made and found the woman's broken glasses, a sports drink, a Pizza Hut receipt, the woman's black underwear and blood spatters, according to police reports.The woman told police that after the attack, the assailants opened the back door to her car and took her purse, which contained an unknown amount of money.Fingerprints were taken from the vehicle, police said.During the investigation, authorities identified Higgs and Cannon as possible suspects, according to police reports. Higgs was arrested Aug. 4, and Cannon was found at a home in Dallas and taken into custody Aug. 6.Cannon's bail is $200,000, and Higgs' is $50,000.Cannon faces charges of aggravated sexual assault and aggravated robbery.
