Suspect wounded in shooting by Dallas officers - Fort Worth Star Telegram

Dallas police officers, responding to a reported disturbance, shot a man early Friday after he pointed a gun at them, a police spokesman said.

The suspect was taken to a Dallas hospital and media outlets have reported that his injuries were not believed to be life threatening.Officers responded to the disturbance about 3:30 a.m. in the 3800 block of Casa Del Sol Lane in northeast Dallas, said Cpl. G. Monreal with the Dallas police media affairs division. Officers saw an armed man inside a residence talking to several people. The man eventually let those people leave the home and was seen pointing a gun at his own head, Monreal said. At some point, the man pointed the gun at officers."Fearing for their lives, the officers fired at the suspect," he said.Police were still investigating the shooting, he said. The incident was the 15th police-involved shooting in Dallas this year, the Dallas Morning News reported. Eight of those were fatal, including the shooting last month of James Harper. After Harper was killed, an angry crowd gathered at the scene amid rumors that Harper was shot in the back. However, an autopsy this week concluded that he was actually shot in the chest and abdomen.Alex Branch, 817-390-7689Twitter: @albranch1
