Woman accused of backing over swimmers with boat at Lake Grapevine - Fort Worth Star Telegram

A Lewisville woman faces a charge of intoxication assault after authorities say she backed over two swimmers with a boat Sunday at Lake Grapevine, seriously injuring them with the boat propeller, according to authorities and an arrest affidavit released Monday.

The two women were taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas. At least one of them suffered severe lacerations, Grapevine police said. Their conditions were unavailable Monday.Authorities identified the driver of the boat as Amanda Renee Harrolle, 33, of Lewisville. She was arrested Sunday and released from the Denton County Jail a few hours later after posting $20,000 bail.Harrolle is expected to be charged with intoxication assault with a vehicle causing serious bodily injury, authorities said Monday.The accident was reported about 6 p.m. Sunday in the Marshall Creek area on the northwest side of the lake.The two swimmers were in about five feet of water when the boat backed over them, Grapevine police said.The boat stopped after the women yelled that they had been hit, according to the affidavit.The women were helped onto the boat and driven to the Dove Loop boat ramp, where they sought medical help.Patricia Vannoy, a Texas Parks and Wildlife Department game warden, said in an affidavit that she detected a strong odor of alcohol on Harrolle's breath when she interviewed her. Harrolle said she had had three drinks of vodka and 7UP, according to the affidavit.Harrolle also failed portions of a sobriety test, the affidavit stated.Harrolle was taken to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital H-E-B in Bedford for a mandatory blood draw and then booked into jail.
