DPD links two early-morning shootings that left one man dead, another charged ... - Dallas Morning News (blog)

Update at 12:50 p.m.: Dallas Police have determined that the early-morning shootings were related. Per a note dispatched moments ago by DPD spokesman Scott Walton, at 2:55 this morning officers received a shooting call from the 2800 block of Alaska, where 18-year-old Byron Fuller Jr. was found with a gunshot wound and taken to Methodist Central.

A half hour later, officers were then dispatched to the 2800 block of Alabama Street, where they found 19-year-old Valentin Valencia dead, also the victim of a shooting.

Writes Walton: “It was determined Byron Fuller Jr. had been involved in the shooting on Alabama. He has been charged with murder and the bail is set at $100,000.”

Original item at 10:37 a.m.: Dallas Police responded to a pair of shootings in East Oak Cliff about 3 a.m. Monday.

One was the apparent shooting death of a 19-year-old on Alabama Street, near Beckley and Saner, and the other was three blocks away on Alaska Street. In that case, a man had been shot but did not want to cooperate with authorities.

Police said they are not sure if the incidents are related and they are continuing to investigate. The victim’s name will be released pending notification of next of kin.
